April 30, 2022

Hello Dunham Families,

What a great week we had, between the STEAM Fair, TK / Kindergarten screenings, Superhero Spirit Day and our lunchtime basketball tournament, there was lots of fun.  The school year continues to move quickly as we head into May.  I wanted to update you on our after school daycare for next school year.  We are working diligently to have daycare return to its traditional hours of being open until 6:00pm each day for next school year starting in August and are excited to have the late afternoon hours available again for our Dunham families.

Below is information about our parent survey and the survey link.  We are looking for one response per a household.  The survey closes on May 6th at 7:00 p.m.

The reason for the survey:

We are in the process of updating our Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP).

We want to hear how your school is doing to involve and engage you in your child’s or students’ education and our decision making process.  We know the pandemic has made things more difficult in many ways but we are pleased and hopeful with the progression throughout this school year as things continue to move closer and closer to pre COVID-19 practices.  Your input is valuable as we continue to align our goals and financial resources.

Your feedback will help Dunham Elementary School District provide effective communications and improve our customer service and programs. Specifically, your input will form our Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP).

The LCAP process is an important way for students, parents, educators, and the community to engage in Dunham’s decision making. It is a critical part of California’s funding formula and describes Dunham’s overall vision for students, annual goals, specific actions, and measurable outcomes.

Here’s where we need your help. We want to be sure we’re hitting our 8 Priorities.

The State’s 8 Priorities are:

  1. Basic Services such as: facilities, qualified teachers and instructional materials
  2. Implementation of Academic Standards
  3. Parent Involvement
  4. Student Achievement
  5. Student Engagement
  6. School Climate
  7. Course Access
  8. Other Pupil Outcomes (decided locally)

This survey is designed to help Dunham understand where our strengths and weaknesses lie to help our committees, Staff, and the School Board to create our goals and budget for the next school year.

Please use the Additional Comments at the end of the survey to add any thoughts you feel may have not been addressed by the survey.  If there is something you would like a response to please email me directly.

Thank you for filling out this important survey and contributing to the process of offering our students a safe environment, strong academics, and a well-rounded program.
