Halloween at Dunham
This school year Halloween falls on a weekend. The teachers and staff discussed how to ensure that the children are able to celebrate Halloween at school while still keeping everyone safe during the pandemic.
- Students are invited to wear their costumes to school on Friday, October 29. Due to COVID mitigation measures we will not be having our traditional Halloween parade and parents will not be able to come onto campus during the school day.
- Please do not send Halloween sweets to school for October 29, although your generosity is appreciated, we do not plan to overload students with sugar / sweets.
- We look forward to seeing the kids’ costumes.
- Don’t forget that October 29 is an 11:45 release day for all students.
School Halloween Costume Guidelines:
No pretend “prop” weapons or dangerous objects such as guns, knives or swords
No costumes or makeup that has a gory “prop” such as blood
Do not bring Halloween costume masks to school
No bulky costume or costume parts. Students should be able to sit down at desks as well as safely participate in daily school activities and recess
Appropriateness – costumes cannot promote use of drugs, alcohol, or violence of any kind.

COVID-19 Testing Available at School
We will now be able to offer onsite COVID-19 testing as a convenience to parents. As you know, outdoor masking and the ability to get a COVID test allows for students to not miss school even if they are exposed to COVID at school (modified quarantine). Getting a COVID test at school is not required; as previously shared we are offering it as a convenience and resource. A parent must consent and be present for the testing. We are able to offer testing for at-school exposure, COVID symptoms and surveillance testing. Testing is for Dunham students only. Please see the below information about registering, consent and availability. I want to offer a special thank you to Maggie Vasquez in the school office for figuring out a way to offer this resource to Dunham students.
