We have some new staff members this school year. Over the next couple of weeks we will be introducing you to them through the Friday Folder message. Joah Gonzalez joins our staff this year as a School Psychologist Intern and we are excited to have him . He will be on campus on Thursdays providing social-emotional support. Here is a little about Joah:
Hello! My name is Joah, I am from Arcata—about four hours up north. I completed my undergrad at Humboldt State University where I majored in Psychology with an emphasis in Developmental Psychopathology and a minor in American Sign Language and Special Populations. I worked at a nonprofit for two years between undergrad and grad school where I was a rehabilitation specialist and case manager. I then returned to Humboldt State University after serving the nonprofit to complete my education in School Psychology. In my personal time, I enjoy skateboarding, kayaking, designing tattoos, and watching Netflix with my Border Collie.
There is no school this upcoming Monday, September 6 in observance of Labor Day. The September menu is attached below.
I hope you all have wonderful three-day weekend,
Daniel Hoffman
Superintendent / Principal
A Few Updates and Observations From the Last Two Weeks:
DOGS
We all love dogs but please do not bring them on campus with you. Dogs are not allowed on the school campus.
SHOES
Please make sure the shoes your child wears to school are closed toed with a strap on the back. Between recess, PE, wood chips and classrooms full of chair legs, open toed shoes are not safe for school and a strap is needed to keep them on the feet properly for activities like PE.
PICK UP
Pick up is going smoother and smoother, thank you for that. Cars are driving slower and people are getting the hang of the parking lot lanes. Everyone is getting better at not stopping in the red or not leaving vehicles unattended in the yellow. Thank you – this helps everyone be safer and more efficient.
DAYCARE (status has not changed from last week)
Next week we will continue to offer after school daycare for students in any grade up until 4:00 p.m. Please remember that a student needs to be fully registered for daycare at least 24 hours prior to attending daycare. There is an annual registration fee of $30 per child (not per a family) that is due at the time of registration.
