September 10, 2020
Dear Dunham Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful three day weekend. It has been a good third week of school for Dunham but an odd week for our community at large with an orange or darkened sky for most of it. Students and staff had some extra fun on Wednesday with Mr. DeVeny our Music Teacher. Music will continue to take place on Wednesdays. We are excited to get it started for the year!
With all the odd things happening right now, some of us are also facing power outages. With Dunham’s student population spread out through multiple towns in Sonoma County, what one house faces with power and what others are facing might not be the same thing. If your power is out please email or call the school and let us know. School is still happening in these situations. We understand this means that you may not be able to Zoom with the class. The hope is that students will be able to work on any assignments / school work that does not require electricity. Have a wonderful weekend and be cautious of air quality levels.
Please see below for more announcements.
Sincerely,
Daniel Hoffman
Superintendent / Principal
Toolbox
Classes are getting underway with specific tools from our Toolbox program. Toolbox is a researched-based social-emotional learning curriculum. It teaches critical competencies necessary for academic and life success such as resilience, self management, and responsible decision-making skills.
Dunham adopted Toolbox several years back and has found it to have a positive impact upon our students. Many of you are familiar with the Toolbox “Tools” from past years. For those of you new to Toolbox please see the attached information below for more about the program and our schedule for each tool.

Community Programs
Attached below are flyers about some community programs that you might be interested in (Girl Scouts, art & music lessons). These programs are not part of Dunham School District and are not endorsed by Dunham School District.
School Lunches
Last week, the USDA issued a waiver allowing for schools to once again serve any child under the age of 18, at no cost until December 31, 2020. Lunches will be served at the following locations:
Lawrence Jones Middle School, 5154 Snyder Lane, R.P.
Technology Middle School, 7165 Burton Avenue, R.P.
Rancho Cotati High, 5450 Snyder Lane, R.P.
This takes place every Monday, Wednesday and Friday (on school days) from 11:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. The meal disbursement program will be solely for picking up meals. Meals can not be consumed on site. Families may walk up to pick up meals or stay in the car and have them brought to you. Children do not need to be present. We encourage families to continue to be proactive in reducing the risk of COVID-19. (Flyer attached below)
Materials Pick-up / Drop-off
On Wednesday, September 16, will be our next weekly materials pick-up and drop-off. This takes place every Wednesday from 2:00-7:00 PM. Tables with the materials will be located in the larger part of the parking lot. Tables and drop-off boxes will be marked by class. When exiting your vehicle please make sure you and anyone with you is wearing a mask (school age and up). Please park in a designated parking spot and don’t block the driving lane.
Please return the forms that were sent home to be filled out. The sooner we can get those back the better. We appreciate your help with this.
