Throughout the year at Dunham, students have weekly music lessons with Andrew DeVeny, our beloved music teacher. If you walk into the Community Room during music, you’ll probably see students singing (and sometimes dancing) along with their teachers. If you stay a bit longer, you would also see that students are taught about music history, other languages, types of instruments, connections between music, science, and math, and so much more. When students sing together, they form a bond, they are encouraged and uplifted, and their buckets get a bit fuller. Many students look forward to Music days, wonder what amazing songs they’ll learn next, and even return to class begging to sing just a little longer.
Our small size affords us the ability to know every family and child on a personal level: their likes, their learning styles, and their dreams. With only one class per grade level, our kids feel a real sense of family and stability as they grow up together.
