Dunham Walk-A-Thon 2016

DUNHAM DRAGONS….Get Your Walking Shoes On! The annual DUNHAM DRAGON  Walk-a-Thon is coming – FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7th! This is your chance to have fun with your friends, get fit, and help make this a great year for Dunham! With everyone’s help, we can make the Dunham Walk-a-Thon a fun day for the whole school! Remember, this is a family event, so we encourage family to come out and cheer on our walkers. Maybe even pick up a few treats at the BAKESALE!

When is the Walk-A-Thon?

The walk-a-thon will take place at Dunham during school hours on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7th. Students will walk, with their classmates, beginning at 1:30. Families are welcome, and encouraged, to come and cheer for the Dunham walkers, and buy lots of treats at the bake sale.

Why a Walk-A-Thon?

Dunham is a small one-school, school district with 200 children, located in the rural farmlands west of Petaluma. A small school such as ours needs to continually fundraise to augment State Education Funding. The Walk-a-Thon is one of our largest fundraisers of the year. Our Goal is to raise $10,000. Monies donated will go towards physical education, music, drama, art, outdoor education and the updating of our campus.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The process is simple. Students will ask people to be “Sponsors.”

• Sponsorships can be made one of two ways. The first would be to pledge a given amount per lap that the student walks on the day of the event. The average kid walks about 20 laps. The second way is to pledge a flat amount, like $10 or $20 for example.

• Sponsors may be friends, family, neighbors, and parents’ co-workers or business associates. Please do not go door-to-door unless you have an adult with you.

• Use the Family and Friends Donation letter to email your requests for donations. This letter can also be used as a script to help know exactly what to say! • Cash, or checks made out to “Dunham PTO,” can be collected.

AUGUST 26: Students will receive the t-shirt drawing contest rules in their Friday Folder

SEPTEMBER 1: Deadline to enter student’s pictures for the t-shirt drawing contest

SEPTEMBER 9: Winner of the t-shirt drawing contest is announced

SEPTEMBER 23: Students will receive pledge folders in their Friday Folder

OCTOBER 7: WALK-A-THON!!

ONLINE DONATIONS FOR THE “LET’S GET PIXELATED” WALK-A-THON!

Looking for a great way to request donations from friends and family who live far away…or even across town? Look no further!

We’ve set up a Dunham PTO account on Razoo.com to help us gather walk-a-thon donations online through October 27, 2016. It will take just a few minutes to sign up (or jump right in if you signed up before)!

STEP 1 Go to: https://www.razoo.com/team/Dunham2016walk-A-Thon

STEP 2 Click the FUNDRAISE button in the Join This Team box on the right.

If you have a Razoo account, login and your fundraiser page will be created automatically. If you’re a first-time Razoo user, click the blue SIGN UP NOW button on the right. If you want your child to be the fundraiser, type in your child’s name (or initials, nickname) and your email address. If you accidentally register with your name, click on your name in the upper right corner. Click PROFILE. Then click the blue EDIT PROFILE button.  If you have multiple kids, hopefully, you have multiple email addresses! J

STEP 3 To personalize your page—e.g., revise text, add photos/videos, add a note to donors—click the green MANAGE button at the top of your child’s page.  To get fundraiser URL, click the VIEW tab and copy the URL.

STEP 4 If you email the link or post it on Facebook, please ask donors to also consider covering our fee for using Razoo. How can they do so? On the “Complete Your Donation Page”, they can check this box: “Cover platform fees so this fundraiser receives my full donation.”
