Dunham News
October 29 – November 2, 2018

Oktoberfest is tonight, Friday, October 26 from 5:30 – 8:30.  We hope you and your family can make it!  A few reminders – dinner is a potluck, please bring drinks for your family (water is provided), chairs/blankets for the outdoor movie, and a pumpkin to decorate/carve.  It is going to be a FUN night!

Parent Conferences

Parent Conferences are coming up from November 13 – 16.  This is a wonderful opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss how he/she is doing in class.  1st Trimester Report Cards will also be given to you at your conference.

Similar to previous years, we are using an online sign up system to schedule conferences.  Each conference will be 20 minutes with 5 minutes in between conferences.  Your child’s teacher will notify you regarding your child’s participation in the conference.  Please use the following link to sign up for a conference time:

Walk-A-Thon

Still have pledge funds to turn in?  It is not too late, please drop them by the school office as soon as possible.

Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair will be open all next week! Your child’s teacher will be taking your child on a “preview” of the book fair Monday morning.  Due to a chance of rain, the book fair will be located in the Library this year.
Hours are also follows:
Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri – 2:30pm to 4:00pm,
Wed. Oct. 31 – 12:00pm to 2:00pm *after the Halloween Parade.

You can also, get
a jump-start on shopping through our Online Book Fair! This is also a great way to purchase books if you are unable to attend the book fair in person. http://www.scholastic.com/bf/dunham
Please consider donating a book to your child(ren)’s class! There are wish list book boxes in the book fair where the teacher’s have selected books.

Halloween Parade

Our annual Halloween Parade will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 31.  Students should bring their costumes to school.  They will be able to change into them before the parade itself.  Just a reminder, please no:

  • Costumes that depict students as victims of violence
  • Blood or gore
  • Masks that completely cover a child’s face or impede vision
  • Weapons

Toolbox

Over the next few weeks our focus Toolbox tool will be the listening tool.  We will talk to our students about listening with their ears, eyes, and heart.

Growth Mindset Phrase

The growth mindset focus will be “I am on the right track.”  Everyday students use their listening tool to follow directions and receive feedback.  The listening tool also helps them to make sure they are doing the right thing in their interactions with others.

Spirit Day

We had an awesome display of school spirit on Wednesday – 156 students wore red to school!  Our next spirit day will be mustache day on November 14.
